D200 was way over my budget. Yet after comparing the D120/200 I went for the more expensive one.
Funny how budgets can be stretched
You can say that alright, monsieur Od'A!
You're right. I will be driving my 2003 Toyota Hiace for the next 5 years though. It's not a stretch. It's a shift.

So if I upgrade my former D-Premier again (after merely two years, so still 4 years of warranty on it) I'll have a 250 Pro in an old case that would then, after merely 4,5 years, have cost a total of €11900+3500+3500 to 4500 (250->250 Pro upgrade price currently not known so a wild guess)=18,900 to 19,900 and is then virtually identical to a 240 Pro which'll cost, what 8-9k?
No thank you, I don't see how I could justify that. There's too little value gained in these specific, merely incremental, upgrades for me.

Clearly the early adopters are a lot worse off than the late ones. As is often the case. I can't see how Devialet can justify having a 240Pro in a 120 case and a 250Pro in a D-premier case with such a huge price difference. I even like the look of the 120 case better. In chrome that is. Not in Rose gold...that looks awesome

Apologies if I've mssed something as this is getting very complicated! I'm still wondering whether it's cheaper for me to upgrade my D200 to a D240 Pro (or whatever), or sell my D200 and buy a (s/h?) D120 instead and upgrade that to a D240 Pro for the same cost?

I feel bad, because the representative mentionned the exact upgrade price from 120 to 240pro... i forgot ... something around 4k? But I am not sure anymore

Ah, my bad
Actually last year i bought the 120 for my office, as small amp for my office speakers (B&W CDM1... which i intend to replace by 1.5 like yours!)
My big room was running Linkwitz Orions back then. Later in the year i fell in love with the Giya G2 tho. And immediately put them into the big room... the best amp i had available was the Dev 120, so that one migrated to the big room as well.
My plan is/was to buy a Dev 250... or 240pro or 250pro for the Giyas in the big room ... and move the small Dev to the office. But who knows. I might snag up a cheap 800 used, and upgrade that to 1000 later. or a used 250... or just get a 240 or 250pro... i just don't know.
Btw, when i told the devialet representative that we were discussing a lot on internet forums he was like "oh, you mean devialetchat". So they're also out here, listening to us
Tidbit i forgot to mention yesterday : seems multichannel audio integration of the expert with the Phantom line is also in the works... but nothing definite yet.
Just in case, a short head's up with what I understood about the new models and upgradability : - New models would be 130pro, 240pro, 250pro (not sure if that one will be sold), dualmono 240pro, and 1000pro
- 120 will upgrade to 240pro (no upgrade to 130pro)
- 200 will upgrade to 240pro ... keeping the chassis
- 250 will upgrade to 250pro (confirmed for all existing 250...) ... keeping the chassis
- Two 250pro can still be combined into a 1000pro.

Well I see second hand prices (in EURO) already going as low as:
D120 3000
D200 4150
D400 7000
They'll probably drop further once the new models are announced.

Yep, buying new and early is expensive. Especially from a young brand with an undiversified product range. Unfortunately they've also proven to be unreliable and unpredictable.
The focus here clearly lies on generating new business and perhaps they can milk some of the current 120/200/400 owners one more time.
