Hello Damon. I'm pretty confident you're right that you can't assign the phono or line 1 signals as outputs. Have you considered using the speaker outputs to connect directly to the "high-level" inputs of a sub-woofer? (According to some sub-woofer manufacturers this is preferred to using a line-level signal.) You would then need to rely on a low-pass filter in the sub, of course, and the main speakers would still be taking the whole frequency range, but it sounds as though that might fit your needs.

I'm sure others will have more imaginative suggestions!

Did you have a particular model of sub-woofer in mind yet?
