Indeed. I understand it took Totaldac about 6 months to become RoonReady. Vincent was particularly proud of achieving this so quickly. Others have taken (or are taking) much, much longer.
My guess is that Devialet are looking at a classic sunk costs scenario here after investing so much into Spark.
Unless they commit now I just don't see this being delivered in 2017.
More likely the Devialet OS is essentially bringing Spark to the Expert range, along with some limited UPnP functionality.

Oh no - don't say that! You're meant to be the positive one!
There is absolutely no way that Devialet will be able to bring out a fully fledged UPnP solution in under 12 months... it's taken LINN years and years to get to where they are with their OpenHome implementation and Kazoo... their best option is to go with something from StreamUnlimited but something tells me they won't do that...
The clue is surely in the name (Devialet OS - used in Phantom) and in the company's current focus on Phantom which has enabled Devialet to double its turnover in the past year alone.
So we will see Phantom streaming technology coming to the Expert, in the same way that SAM did.
Now do you think Devialet will dump Spark after all that hard work to get it to where it is now?
Devialet will view ROON as a niche player that is set to make a fair bit of money through additional ROON subscriptions, given Devialet's large base of users. So I see a bit of a negotiation taking place behind the scenes there... and based on what we hear from ROON themselves very little is happening in this regard!
