New product launch?
Any 120 owners upgrading effectively make £2K, so their upgrade costs about a grand. Must be one of the best value purchases ever....

http://www.fanthorpes.co.uk/devialet/dev...837366.php

120 Pro (Guess they mean 130 Pro) - £4,989
220 Pro - £6,989 (Companion £5,989)
250 Pro - £12,489 (Companion £11,489)
440 Pro - £11,989
1000 Pro - £22,900

EDIT: So around a 25% increase over the current prices of the 120, 200 (27%) and 250 whilst the 400 owners get away with a mere 20% Smile

So, thanks to Devialet confirming the innards retailing in the region of £6K for the pair (including labour and shipping for the upgrade), we now have a pretty accurate retail price estimate for a pair of cases, remote, box, and white gloves, for a 1000Pro. Approx £17,000.

They went through with the upgrade to the next model in line for current 120 owners, which is smart business wise to attract 120 buyers (who might otherwise not/never upgrade) but of course could feel like a slap in the face for many of the current D200 owners which I believe is their most popular model (I could be wrong though).

Not that power is really important, I think it's the least important parameter in this upgrade (and it's maximum power, short term only), but I do find it strange the 250P stays at 250. It'll be one of my first questions when Devialet opens the forum part on their website. Perhaps there's a good technical reason but they should explain why the 250P stays at 250 while the 500 can first go to 800 and now 1000 in the same case, using in effect the same electronics as the 250.

One thing (the only thing actually) that suprised my is that the 250P THD/THD+N specs are identical to the 440P which is a dual mono design. The 130/220P have less good specs. This, if correct, indicates to me that there is now a difference in the electronics inside.
Quoting myself; they've just sent out an "erratum" email correcting the THD & THD+N specs of the 250P. These are now equal to the other stereo models 130P/220P.

So the upgrade price from 200 to 220 Pro is 3490 euro, where the difference between the 'old' 200 price to the 'new' 220 Pro is just 1500 euro, so the depreciation is 2000 euro for the 200 owners ...

Does anyone know what the US prices are for the Pro series?  I don't see how people think the upgrade path for the 120 is such a good deal.  In US dollars the original retail list price is $6495 and the upgrade price is $4590 for $11085 total.  The price of the 200 is $9495 at full retail, which is $1590 less than the upgraded 120.  If we assume the new 220 Pro is $1590 more than the 200, or $11085 total, you break even. Even if you could buy the 120 on the second hand market for say $4550 (~30% less than retail) and then upgrade it for $4590 more you're only saving about $2000 dollars.  But who buys at full retail?  With just a 10% discount for a new 220 Pro, the upgrade price advantage of a second hand 120 shrinks to just a little over $800 dollars, but you get a whole new virgin system and five year warranty buying new.  So until Devialet publishes the retail prices of the new Pro series and warranty details it's not looking like such a good deal for used 120 would be buyers and owners either.

5) New ADC PCM4202 - the best in class out there and an upgrade.

There seems to be a discrepancy with the ADC chip among the various models both Expert and Expert Pro.  I have seen the 120 listed with the 4202 and the rest the 4220 but now it seems all the models both Expert and Expert Pro are using the same 4202 chip.  Can this be confirmed?
