Comparing a 220 Pro to a 200

used D200 sell for much less than the upgrade price in Canada. 

Not that it is worth a lengthy debate, but my check on CAM shows the cheapest D200 is $5,250.00; that is more than the upgrade cost me. There is also a companion for $4,750.00. There is variation, naturally, but it is all up. The Expert line is now 'the previous generation' so it is logically worth less on the used market. But it does not change the intrinsic value or sound quality of the amp. If it was excellent before, it is still excellent.

But given the prices generally of audio equipment in this range, the cost difference is probably a secondary concern for anyone considering a D200 to D220 Pro upgrade versus a move to a D400. I'm thinking that the positive side is that if one can compare the two options, then the cost difference is not likely to be the deciding factor.

That D200 just listed yesterday he won't get a sniff of interest at that price.  I had mine listed for a while and never got an offer over $4000. Devialet was blowing out the D200 for $8000+Taxes for over 6 months prior to the new amps coming out. Now the D220 Pro is priced at $14,000+Taxes. That's brig price difference.

My thought was if I wanted to sell it, I have a better chance investing $5000 and selling a D220 Pro at >$9000 over a D200 at >$4000. Saves the buyer the hassle of shipping it away.

On the subject of the D400, I've been talking to the guy south of Calgary that his listed at $9500. It's been up for sale for months now, he hasn't had a sniff of serious interest and has slowly lowered his price by $2000 already.
