220 Expert AES EBU digital input
#1
Hi. I plan to connect a CD player with a digital XLR output to my Expert Pro, to spin the occasional CD. Anything that I need to be aware of.  I assume a standard 75ohm AES / EBU cable is fine. Kind regards

There are Two ways to connect your CD player to your 220-Pro and use the CD player as a transport whilst the internal DAC of the Devialet does the D-A conversion.

1. Using the Coaxial S/PDIF RCA connector from your CD player's digital output - -> to the Devialet Digital RCA input and a 75 ohms digital RCA-RCA cable.
2. Using the AES/EBU XLR output from your CD player's digital output (if you have a XLR digital output in your CD player) to the AES/EBU Digital input of your Devialet using a 110 ohms AES/EBU XLR-XLR cable.

Note: AES/EBU XLR will sound superior to digital S/PDIF RCA.

Thank you very much for confirming. I was not sure if it should be 110 ohms for the AES/EBU XLR-XLR.

AES/EBU [XLR to XLR] is always 110 Ohms.

Just FYI if you are one of those audiophiles having an itch to tweak systems, for Devialet AES, ground lifting works. Purchase one of those XLR to XLR convertors with ground lifting (i.e. does not connect pin 1), the Devialet sounds much more open with a bigger sound stage with ground lifting.

Indeed - it works! Which brings me to question if Devialet really follows (or not) the 110 ohms spec for their AES/EBU XLR.

Interesting, thanks. I will look into it. Best regards
