Android 16 phone application
#1
It seems there's no Devialet Expert app for Android 16.
I've contacted Devialet but haven't received a response.
I have an iPad Pro and an older iPhone 7, and they work, but I don't understand how Devialet can be so negligent as to not maintain an Android app.
Does anyone know anything about this?

There is a thread on this general theme dating from 2024, and therefore relating to Android 14. Late on in the thread, I describe how I was able to get the App working on a Galaxy S23 Ultra running Android 14.

I am now onto Android 16 and the App still operates merrily. The problem is not therefore with the App - though I can't excuse Devialet's discourtesy in not replying to you - but with Android.

The obstruction seemed to be that Android would not accept a download of an 'outdated' App. I just copied the APK to my 'phone and fired it up from there.

Several people, though doubtless more in tune with Android than I, could not get the App to work so maybe there are different flavours of a given Android nn, some being more protective of their environment than others.

I've asked Devialet about this before and again 2 months ago and got a NO on both questions::::::

=============================================================

I'm sorry to confirm that the new Devialet App is designed exclusively for our Phantom and Mania speakers (which run on our latest DOS 2/3 platform). It is not compatible with the Expert line of amplifiers.

Unfortunately, the legacy Devialet Remote App for Android, which you were previously using to control the volume, is no longer supported or updated due to changes in the Android operating system. I understand that this loss of convenient app control is frustrating, and I regret this change in functionality.

Your Best Control Options
While we cannot restore the old app functionality, the most reliable ways to control your volume and system remain:

  - The Physical Expert Remote Control: This is the most stable and effective method to manage volume, sources, and settings.
  - Roon or Other Streamers: If you are using a streaming protocol like Roon, you can continue to use the Roon app interface on your phone to control the volume directly.

Devialet Expert 200 (FW 7.1.3) / Magnepan 1.7i / Rel T5 / Foobar (WASAPI push 24bit) / AIR 3.0.1 public beta (best Air 3.x.x SQ by far) on Win11 23H2 (AIR is not running on newer updates)

It is a bit tricky but if you follow the steps in the instructions in the thread you should be able to make it work.

Alternatively, use Claude Code or Codex to vibe code a replacement. I used Claude Code to create a python server / phone-focused web app to control my Expert 440 Pro, and it works better than the official Expert app ever did. (I'd post it here, but some of the status decoding code probably wouldn't work without a companion amp.)

I followed the instructions. But it was impossible to install it on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Did you remember to truncate the APK filename? I found this to be critical to my success on the S23 Ultra. The full name just generated an error, as described in the original thread.

I changed the APK name as instructed. I still couldn't install it; I kept getting the incompatibility message and there was no way to install it.
The pop-up message says:
Unsafe app blocked.
This app was built for an older version of Android and does not include the latest privacy protections.
