"Audiophile Grade" Ethernet Switches - The new generation
@GuillaumeB - Well done for getting the SOtM sNH-10G and M12 Gold together for a comparison. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I suspect that you are the first person on the planet to achieve this, not quite on par with the moon landings, but something very special in the crazy audiophile world nevertheless.

I also had a chuckle when I read @Rufus McDufus 's words. Nothing wrong with Rufus' words, it is just that I recognise exactly the experience he was writing about, a case of "yes, I can definitely hear a difference, but hang on, that's impossible maybe bias, but hang on again, I don't have a bias, but yes, I can defiantly hear a difference, it is real." I am not paraphrasing Rufus there, I am thinking back to some similar A/B trials I have performed myself, and it can drive you crazy. I am sure a few of us have been there, the curse of the open minded objectivist who is prepared to do subjective listening tests, it can lead to insanity I am sure.

Many thanks to you both for taking the time to do this and sharing your observations.

Guillaume - I do have a question. Can you advise what the "audio path" was for this test? Was this local files, streamed or both, music player software, were you using the Sonic Transporter to TotalDAC D1 Streamer or the 220 Pro? It is always interesting to know exactly what kit and software was in play.

@baconbrain - I think I agree with your conclusion. Personally, I can easily imagine adding the SOtM sNH-10G to my system, and also integrating it with other AV kit that I have. There is something about the M12 that just seems a step to far for me.

With all that said, I started this thread way back in April 2018, stating that the item that interested most was the Uptone EtherRegen "with release planned for the summer". We have pasted summer 2019 now, let alone summer 2018, and we are still waiting! Who says Devialet are slow sometimes, it looks like Uptone have struggled with this one too. Anyway, I believe it is on target now for release before the end of this year, and the goon news is that it still looks like it will be less than $700.

As a final off topic post - @baconbrain - sorry, but I could not resist mentioning that you seem to now have an Innuos Statement in your signature. Many congratulations! When you have had some time to get fully used to it, I am sure a few of us would be interested in reading your thoughts on this one. From what I have read elsewhere it is a mighty fine bit of kit, I hope it works well in your system and you enjoy it!

I must admit that I've reached a very happy point with no switch or router in the wired signal path.

Yes, I have the Statement now for only a couple of weeks but my initial impression folds-in quite nicely to a fellow forum member's findings @Blackmorec which you can read here:

I think the price will be $625 for the etherREGEN and Uptone have October as the month to start shipping just have to see if both come true.

For those who dont follow Audiophile forum here is a picture of the etherREGEN.

The majority of my listening for this test was done using the sonicTransporter i5 to stream music from Qobuz using Roon to my TotalDac d1 server (a Roon Ready device) feeding my TotalDac d1-seven DAC. I also streamed some local files stored on the sT. No upsampling or other DSP used.

Interesting new kid on the block. The Silent Angel Bonn N8 switch from thunder-data has tested pretty well in a Dutch comparison with the AQvox SE switch. In a more reasonable price range of < €400.

And if you think the Sotm switch is to expensive, then don’t even bother to open this link:

And still besides the power part that supplies the activ cable isolation and the "Tesla coils" that works backwords to clean the power from the net (it works in parallell and activly cleans the power) it is still a D-Link DGS-108 switch in there that looks like nothing have been done to it....... there are four models X, A2, D2 and Supreme (one on the second picture) what is diffrent in them I dont know but the prices is in Euro 2000, 3200, 5360 and 12000.

Think I will stick with the etherREGEN Smile

Cool pic of the inside. One of my local dealers is promoting these and asked if I would like to audition one, but when I saw the prices (especially for the Supreme), it just about knocked the wind out of me.

Really curious as to your subjective feedback (and that of @confused) on the EtherRegen once you have one.
