Best quality optical into Phantom?

So which should be better?

Computer wifi to Apple Express - then from Express optical to Dialog. (Computer wifi -> Express -> Dialog Optical)
Computer USB to some DONGLE switching to optical - and then to Phantom. (Computer USB -> Device outputting in Optical -> Dialog Optical)
