Officially (Devialet's web site) the Phantom II supports Airplay 2 so it should work, but you won't know until you've tried.

AirPlay works, it just does not support anything higher than CD quality so high rez per se is out of the question.

i hope apple has something up their sleeve (AIRPLAY 3?) which would allow 24/192 STREAMS !

I seem to remember someone from Apple (Apple Music?) stating that "very few" (=no one in Apple's context) can hear a difference between lossless 16/44.1 and lossy 320 kbps so 24/192 PCM is not very likely. Phantoms with DOS2 are limited to 24/48 anyway..

The answer is yes, up to 24/48 only.
See this youtube link:

Anyway nobody can reliably tell the difference between 24/48 and 16/44 (if both identical files were recorded and recorded at 24/48 and one of them was downsampled to 16/44). So HiRes is useless at the user stage (but not at the mastering stage)...
Here is a summary of results using blind A/B tests on 140 respondents:

"As you can see, in aggregate there is no evidence to show that the 140 respondents were able to identify the 24-bit sample. In fact it was an exact 50/50 for the Vivaldi and Goldberg! As for the Bozza sample, more respondents actually thought the dithered 16-bit version was the "better" sounding 24-bit file (statistically non-significant however, p-value 0.28).

Only to do partial justice to Devialet when using RAAT the speakers accepts 96/24bit from Roon and then internally downsamples to 48/24bit. As such the Phantoms accept 96/24bit format. How internally this is processed and how much gets to the drivers is another thing, but it is probably the same with any other system that makes an analog signal from a digital one. The steps of how the signal is converted is very divers and often a process of resolution reductIon, and analog summation operations.

So Roon can now send up to 96kHz? No more 48kHz resampling in Roon?
