Chain three 140s
#1
Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to chain three Expert Pro 140s together to drive a three way speaker in an active setup? I have been running two 140s in an active setup for a couple of years but a change in speakers means that I now need a third amp. It seems to me that the lack of an Aes input on the 140 means I cannot chain more than two. Anyone have any thoughts?

You can't do this using Devialet configurator normally. But, you can do it in at least two ways:
- You make the configuration for 3 Expert Pro 210 units, then manually modify the configuration files.
- You make 3 configurations for two Expert Pro 140 units and use only the 3 files from the master units in the amplifiers. The first master must have the digital input that you are using active, and the other two only the RCA digital input. Between the units you must use RCA digital cables (2 pieces).

I'd use this method. Thank you Daniel for helping me in the past to get the breakthro' from Devialet's Configurator's bug using your method for my Dual mono 440-Pro.

Thanks for the reply Daniel. It's good to know it is possible despite Devialet support telling me it wasn't. I'm not sure I fully understand the method though and want to make sure I know exactly what I'm doing before buying an additional 140.

I'm understand I can configure 3 amps for the 3 speaker drives, bass, mid and treble. Let's say I setup the master amp as bass and the first slave as mid and and connect them via RCA digital cable. This is basically the setup I have now. I can use the configuration to setup the 2nd slave as treble. But from there I'm confused. Do I configure the 2nd slave to connect directly to the master or to the 1st slave? Could you please provide more of an idiots guide?

Many thanks

Darren
