Devialet at Oxford Audio 13th July
I think Ian could be our ambassador of DevialetChat to better communicate with Devialet (wow post # 71).

So their message, if any and those which could be released, could be passed to we guys here, apart from pass through the worldwide dealers.

If NOT, Devialet should release more INFO at the facebook or some other means.

I assume there is something lost in translation but next September would normally be 2017 not 2016.

It's going to suck if Air isn't fixed for over another year.

End of July this year, September next year. Same thing really.

No other unit like an Aurender or so.

Expert piloted by an e.g. iDevice with e.g. Roon on it and that's it.
I realise that this is getting away from the original topic, but almost every thread seems to be ending up in the same place i.e. the AIR problem. Personally, I've given it a wide berth since the first jolt of static that sent me leaping for the remote. I'm finding another route.

My streaming doesn't involve a PC or Mac. My NAS runs JRiver and is hooked up via USB to my D via an Intona USB isolator.  It's controlled by my iPad, using Jremote.  OK, the NAS is a PCs of sorts but, "Expert piloted by an e.g. iDevice with e.g. Roon on it and that's it." Is exactly what I've got, isn't it? Or am I still missing your point? And I do apologise if I'm being thick here.  Smile

unfortunately,  Devialet did promise room correction. I had several mails from them regarding RC. My first post on this forum back in 2014 was about this. http://devialetchat.com/showthread.php?t...338#pid338 They then dropped room correction/convolver functionality.

Sorry OGS, missed that.
I really think it is silly of them to mention anything outside the company until it is a saleable product, it can have no benefit whatever. It either created disappointment (at best) if a discussed feature is dropped, or impatience if an announced feature isn't available immediately.

Thanks, Ian, for the detailed report.

What does the theoretical optimum mix of the ABig Grin ratio of 0:100 mean?  Does that mean that the Pro series require less Class A output than before to produce the equivalent power output (when compared to the existing series)?

I am trying to understand the concept of precision having being improved by a factor of 4 as well

That had me thinking too.  I suppose the percentages refer to current delivery, and the "ideal" is that the class A delivers no current, just ensures that the output voltage is correct.  Which sounds all very nice, but unless the class A can provide /some/ current, how can it affect the voltage.  My interpretation is that the new control software means the class D can be more accurate so the class A has to deliver less current to correct for inaccuracies; thereby the class A can be more accurate itself and act more like an "ideal" voltage reference.

ETA: so (paradoxically?) because the class A is delivering less current, you're actually hearing a purer class A sound.

seems a plausible explanation to me!

Recognising that they do have a history of inflated marketing and weak customer service, which comes from areas outwith the Devialet representatives at the Oxford event, I'd guess most, if not all, attendees at that event found them more open about imminent and short term activity, as well as saying a lot about the technology behind the OdA and the Pro 1000, than ever before.

The three Devialet guys at Oxford, Mathieu, Joachim and Antoine, do read DevialetChat - and perhaps feedback from them, to their bosses, over the past year or so resulted in the greater degree of openness we enjoyed in Oxford; and hopefully will continue to enjoy through participating in a constructively critical forum which they continue to read.

They know they have much to do in these areas.

Well good for them, let's hope it's not too little, too late. For them I mean, it's their business and jobs, I can buy anywhere after all. Also it doesn't make what I said less true for the past but I wish them lots of luck and wisdom for the future. I'll believe their (and I mean Devialet as a whole here) willingness and ability to change when I see it.

They're free to read here I guess but since they choose to not participate I will not let any of this influence the things I write here. If I was addressing them directly I probably would have been more constructive.

PS; I'm not shooting the messenger, thank you Ian for sharing the information.

No problem. 2014 is a long time and many great discussions ago Smile .  I agree they should not have talked about this before it was a finished feature. I think they actually may have had convolution running in the lab. That is why they talked about it the way they did. The link to room correction I mention in one of the posts in that thread is still active by the way..

I've been wanting to ask you; does the Od'A bring back what you missed after upgrading your D-Premiers?
