I now run a Nordost Tyr2, and I think it's pretty good. It is rather expensive, I think, but cables are usually quite easy to find used. As always, best is to try some different cables and listen for yourself.

I can also personally confirm, that different linking cable somehow gives different  results in sound.

And I assume you are all aware that the sound change caused by the cable only applies to one channel when you use your devices in dual mono mode and only one channel (left or right) is being processed by the amplifier receiving the signal from the link cable, meaning you are probably getting a potentially unbalanced sound.

Personally ,I don't hear any (unbalanced ) sound ,just a change in signature  .

I've tried basic phono cables between my 440pro monos and 1000pro monos. I now have AQ carbon on the 440 and AQ forest on the 1000. Have never heard any difference between any of the cables.

I've also tried - out of temporary necessity - a basic power cable on one channel of the 440 and an AQ NRG-Y on the other. I now have AQ on both channels. Did not hear a difference.

What you hear should only be applicable to one channel, the one that does not have the input directly but through the link cable.

That's very strange what you're saying,as it means DEVIALET as a company designed  these didn't wanted left and right channel  sounds different,  we're they?

Anyway from myself I can only confirm the better linking cable ,the better sound quality (without any obvious imbalance) between left and right channel I can hear.

What exactly do you understand by "better linking cable", considering that it is about digital cables?
Which parameters make one cable "better" than another?

It's very simple, the Devialet monoblock setup uses the master unit as the "preamp" if you compare it to a traditional dual mono setup which has one physical preamp and two monoblock power amps. Since the master unit works as both a preamp for whole signal and a power amp for one channel, whatever is carried by the link cable only applies to the other channel. Someone here says that the sound quality changes depending on which link cable is the sound quality of the companion unit. (or vice versa in case an input of the companion is used)

This is not true. The master does not work as a preamp for both units. The Master does not send an analog (preamplified) signal to the companion, and the input from the companion is digital (not analog).
The master sends the digital music signal (converted to PCM) and commands to the companion. Each amplifier processes the digital music signal independently (just like when it is not part of an amplifier chain).
So, all amplifiers in a Devialet chain receive the same digital signal and process it independently and according to its configuration / settings.

I used "preamp" intentionally for the preamp explanation to make sure we don't get into this analog to digital discussion Smile. I agree that all Devialets receive the same 100% digital signal.

My warnings are arguments for anyone who says that "from the link cable I heard a difference in sound quality" which only applies to the amplifier which does not receive the input signal directly but through the link cable.

In general, I agree there is no difference in sound quality between link cables, but if there is a difference, it only applies to the right or left channel, not the entire signal, that's what I am trying to express here.
