MacMini via ethernet or optical to Gold
#1
I play Roon core on my MacMini into Phantom Golds. They are connected via ethernet as well as via USB-Toslink glassfiber.

My question: When I activate the Roon Ready connection in Roon, is the stream going via ethernet or Toslink?

I want to play via Toslink, but I am not sure whether Roon uses this route when my audio on the Mini is set to Toslink. This only seems to work with a non-RoonReady connection. What would I loose in a non-RoonReady connection?

Thanks.

toslink is always better than USB

USB: USB connections can suffer from electromagnetic interference, which may degrade audio quality, especially in environments with many electronic devices. Additionally, connection issues like cable wear can hinder audio fidelity.

Toslink: Being an optical medium, Toslink is more resilient to electromagnetic interference. This makes it ideal for setups where multiple electronic devices are in close proximity as it ensures a cleaner signal transfer.

if you insist to use USB, buy an expensive noise shield USB cable, or noise eliminator (such as iFi).
