It certainly looks like the lower end of the gecko mounted on something custom...

Mind posting more pictures of the wall/setup? Looks super nice!

I am strongly considering a couple of Geckos, should I make the splunge?

I've got 2 Phantoms with 2 Geckos; I would do it All over again. I thought about getting something custom made to get them on the wall of ceiling: glad I didn't. They're on the wall as they are supposed to be, with no risk of falling.
Take the plunge! Smile

Very classy. I notice that you have both powerline and ethernet. Why the ethernet, is PLC not working OK? I am currently about to mount 2 geckos and is only planning on using PLC, hope this will be enough, otherwise I would need to supply an extra cable.

Beautiful mounting.

Questions if I may:

1. Did you mount it on drywall? And did you put one side of the legs into a STUD? The way it is spaced, at best, only two of the four contact points can be in a stud. And given that the mount and Phantom probably approached 30 lbs or 14 kg, that's a lot of torque on the drywall without studs. And if it falls, that's a super expensive proposition.

2. What about audio quality? Almost always in my experience, speakers sound best when pull away from rear and side wall. It brings better balance, sound stage width and depth among other things. And the more bass a speaker produces, I've found this to be all the more true. How does htis compare if any of you had originally placed it towards the room with a stand?

3. If you want to remove the unit for travel from the wall, how quickly and easily can you just remove it from Gecko so that the Gecko stays on the wall and the Phantom comes down?

I LOVE how this is out of the way!! Beautiful. And of course, guests will be stunned by the audio produced.

Thanks!

Hi!

Sorry for the delay in my response. I don't have dry walls; they are stone walls, and I didn't use studs. I used the ones pictured below.

I think the audio quality is superb; I don't have the comparison of 2 high end speakers in the middle of a room. The depth of the music is perfect, especially with a lot of bass. I had several audiophiles over: they were impressed!
For me it was of great importance getting the phantoms out of reach of my 2, 4 and 6 year olds... Smile

It's easy to get the phantom AND gecko from the wall (you actually hang the gecko and phantom on the studs on the wall when you mount them), then take the gecko off the phantom. I guess it's 3 minutes work.

Dear All,

Finally I suspended my Phantoms using Geckos. Since the wall is very uneven, my friend Piotr machined for me two supports (Copyright !). WARNING: He noticed as well that printed mask delivered with Geckos and reality are shifted vertically by 3 mm. So my pins are adjusted to real dimensions of Geckos.

Phantoms are suspended very high - ca 2.5m. Sound is very good in whole the room, spacious. However bass is much less audible, as compared to standing pair (they were standing before on the grey Manger speakers). Since it an open space, waves are not reflected by the walls (especially from left speaker).

All together I like suspended Phantoms !

Best,

Andrzej.
