New firmware 8.1.3
Here's a copy of 8.1.3 beta in our download area.

https://devialetchat.com/downloads/firmware/

Use at your own risk as it isn't an official release version. I added the 'rc' to the filename as in 'release candidate'.  As mentioned before the difference (when comparing file checksums) is ihm_0800.hex. There also isn't a pdf manual included in this version.

8.1.3 is too hot, with the result that I've had to use tone controls for the first time to dial down the treble.  SAM is also unusable on my Akurates - weird, very boomy, hollow sounding bass - so I've switched it off.

I could contact Devialet and ask them to investigate, but I'm with you, Confused.  I couldn't be bothered getting another firmware version which will inevitably be superseded within a few weeks. Getting equally fed up with all this palaver.  Rant over.

Hat off... many many thanks Rufus! I can confirm the folder is also available without Google access.

Starting to listening to it, first track is Shirley Horn's "The Men You Where"... will report back once I believe I have something useful to say Tongue

Thank you. I recently reinstalled 7.1.3 (downgraded from 8.1.2) and after reading this thread, I'm looking forward to trying this beta version.

I recently got a copy of 8.1.3 pre-release thanks to Guillaume, and finally got a chance to install and do some listening last night. I am pleased to report than at least on PCM material, the SQ is improved relative to 8.1.3. The sound was more relaxed and liquid, with more body and not as bright. Stage depth seemed better delineated. Musically it is closer and ever with slightly more clarity compared to 7.1.3. I haven’t listened to DSD files and LP yet. I probably will do some during the coming weekend.

I want to add that SAM is not important for me and I usually listen with SAM off. My speaker has adequate bass. With SAM on (50%), bass volume and extension is increase, but at a (slight) cost of bass quality (articulation, speed, texture, which the S5 is very good at). However, on recording with lean bass, SAM is really helpful. I assigned a control so that I could toggle on the fly - nicely convenient.

Will the configuration files for 8.1.3 work with this one?
