New firmware 8.1.3

Hello Friends

I tested 8.1.3 and I am not satisfied, the bass has lost its "contour" and the highs are too sharp - not the "music" I expect.
So I can only beg Devialet to provide an update with the SQ of 7.1.3.

There I am asking you a big favour: I some destroyed my 7.1.3 version - could sombody send me the 7.1.3. files again? Really appreciate the help.

Many Thanks for for sending me the files - I realize there are immediately many of you that will help. I got it now so no need for others to send it as well - good to have so many helpful friends.

However when I try to install 7.1.3. I always get a "Flash Error A349 on adh_0303.hex" upgrade failed.
So maybe there is now way back to 7.1.3 once you have upgraded to 8.1.3 - did anyone try this - or have an idea what this error is about? - It is strange because that adh_0303.hex file seems to be the same on all versions since.
Interesting if somebody else has the same experioence.

Due to my various 8.x.x and SAM 2 issues, I have switched back to 7.1.3 a few times now without any issues. As a wild stab in the dark, I recall NickB mentioning once that there can be issues with some higher capacity SD cards in the D200.

Thanks for the hint Brian - this might be the case as a tried to save 7.1.3. on a new 16GB sdc. - will give it another try tomorrow.

Is the current configuration compatible with 7.1.3 ? Is there a way to get a config file compatible with 7.1.3 other than the factory default?

I Installed 8.1.3 on my D250 yesterday and am currently browsing though some favorites.

Connection is my usual USB.

The sound is very good in my book, I didn't do a blind comparison but to my ears it is as good as it ever was.

In fact on page 11 of the user guide, it warns:

"NB IF you use other SD cards, ensure that their capacity does not exceed 4GB"

Coming from 8.1.2 I also find the highs of 8.1.3 more/too brilliant. As I don't use SAM due to my speakers, and having read all the good comments about 7.1.3 - could anyone send me the files please? Thanks very much in advance!

I have tested 8.1.3 comparing to 8.1.2 the bass is dark and boomy the high are more clear but less realistic
It was the same result as 7.1.3 .
I revert back 8.1.2 .

I cannot understand Devialet QA process .
I can understand that they can release fix for features that they miss in QA process .
What I cannot understand is how minor releases are sound so difference .

I also not sure that reverse form 8.1.3 back 8.1.2 is without leftovers from 8.1.3

Installed 8.1.3 yesterday and listened to music all evening and again this morning. I cannot pinpoint a clear difference between 8.1.2 and 8.1.3. I have DPM on and SAM at 50% with bass flat (0db) same setting for both version of FW. Maybe it is system/speaker dependant since the change in FW adresses only certain speakers on SAM 2.

I'm very happy with 8.1.3. l loved 7.1.3 but this new version ( as was 8.1.2 also ) is as good. All a matter of taste IMO.

The thing I wished Devialet would address is AIR. My friend (he has a d120) and I tried everything but still cannot get it to run without white noise. For me, thats a pity. Maybe they're working on it but frankly, I'm not too optimistic. Too bad because when it works, the sound is really good.

Have taken time out from sipping Whisky, and testing reclining chair, and have installed 8.1.3 with DPM on . Have used my existing Configuration from 8.1.2 and all works well.

Sounds fine to me, as have 7.1.3 and 8.1.2. I am afraid that I have reached an age where my hearing is not capable of distinguishing subtle differences in SQ (and IMHO that is all there would likely be between the FW versions), so I leave it to those with better ears than mine to debate (sometimes at great length it appears ) the minutia in SQ between FW versions - I do enjoy reading these debates, so please feel free to keep it up .
