One week countdown...
#91
Part of me wants to say (yet again), what a pathetic company Devialet is. Then the other part of me says, it’s me who is pathetic to keep reading these threads thinking they will ever make nice with Devialet Expert owners.

I enjoy my Dev but after reading threads like this I myself thinking what you see is what you get - it’s time to move on. But, has anyone looked at what the market is for used Devialets? Not a pretty picture.,,,

To be honest, if my system didn't sound so damn good, I would have walked away long ago. I hang in because I love what I hear. Devialet, the company? Not so much.

So I'm not holding out because I hope Devialet will finally come through. As @Dan said, that would be pathetic given Devialet's track record. Rather, I'm waiting until I hear something that sounds as good or better, that functions as well or better, that I can afford to buy, and, last but not least, that is produced by a company I have confidence in. Haven't found that yet, might not even exist. But since I bought my first Expert 4 years ago, I haven't been looking much either. That is what might change...

There are luckily good things happening - though not that soon as expected.
Thus I very much encourage Devialet to send an official newsletter about their intended timing and what they are up to. I already very clearly told them it’s not about promises made / announced (we have had that by far over the last couple of years) rather than the actual actions being taken!

Seeing you are all feeling lonely and unloved by your Devialet servants, can I point you to the Naim site and the Streaming Audio thread. There you can find plenty of discontent to read across all of its platforms about mysterious glitches. Meanwhile, my two, in reality one, boxes do exactly what I want them to do, day in and day out. Still, could they please get rid of those irritating SD cards?

lol, I have an old turntable in the cellar, but I really can't be bothered to hook it up just for fun, as it means remembering and rebuilding the whole config (440 has the "don't re-use old configs" bug"), so yes, I agree again.

Complaining about having to make up a new config to me sounds like complaining that two minute noodles take five minutes to cook. It doesn't take that long to do and you bought the Expert knowing that SD cards were the way to get the config from your computer to the Expert.

If they are fine to outsource the integrated configuration tool, I am more than happy to do it for them. In the end, they use the SDCARD as a watch folder today and they are running an Nginx server already in the Devialet unit.

It is a matter of moving the watch folder concept to an internal folder and then manages that file with an HTML UI. When you click the SAVE button the hash is modified and boom the new config will be detected and the unit will start with the updated config.

Anyway, I am dreaming too much for a company that is slower than a sloth when it comes to taking action.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. My Devialet 250 Pro CI works a treat, sounds great, is the ONLY audio system my family have ever used, and they all use it. It is a closed system so there is no need to update it. As long as Roon and Qobuz stay in business, I'm a happy camper.
