Well, for the 21st November my plan was to go to the office and work jolly hard. (which is my plan most Thursdays)

I now see that this event is scheduled for 12pm to 7pm. I think I might try to get a sneaky afternoon off and visit.

I am somewhere between intrigued and puzzled with the Astra, events at OAC are always very good, and noting that Mathieu will be there is of course a positive.

I think a visit would be well worthwhile.

It would be really helpful to get some real life input from two (or more) longtime Devialet owners comparing the Astra to the Expert Pro in general and specifically the D1000.
Devialetless since 2023 after ten years...

Thanks both. I am hoping be there, most likely aiming to arrive early/mid-afternoon. It's not yet clear (to me) how the event will run - for example, whether it has a fixed agenda or is really more of an "open day" - but I'll happily write up some notes and publish them here in case that's helpful for anyone who can't attend.

If anyone has any specific questions about the Astra, please post them here and I'll aim to put them to M Pernot if I get chance.

Please do ask them all the best things that Expert has and Astra doesnt.

1. Closed enclosure PSU
2. EVO modular/upgradeble platform
3. ADH power differences (check ADH vs ADH next gen components, there is a clear downgrade)
4. Check how dual amp configuration works and why it requires two cables (and if they are digital)

If they somehow engage to respond for Expert line:
1. Ask them if the Expert Pro mobile apps will be removed from the stores soon or if they will be updated as both Apple and Google force developers to update the apps before new year
2. Ask thems if they will have any Expert firmware and if they had 13.3.3 firmware ready but never released
3. Asked them if they have any intention to provide the ADH next gen for Expert line

I'm not sure what good an upgrade path would do for a product that already does everything you need.

It'll be interesting to hear your feedback on the event and the Astra.

I'd be more curious if they plan software upgrades that add functionality like Tidal Connect and Google Cast to the Expert Pro. And if no, then why not?

I suspect the Astra's OS differs a lot from the Expert. The Expert streamer OS was a separate modular board.

I have just received an update from Oxford Audio Consultants. It looks like they are planning two "sessions", 12pm to 2pm, then 4pm to 6pm.

I shall now aim to get there for the 4pm session.
