That assumes you buy them well within the 2 year warranty period. One of my Silvers packed up after four years and the other was fine. Unlike a traditional active speaker you cannot just swop out a failed component.

Absolutley.  There's always a risk!  Further you are down the warranty period, the lower the price should be to offset the risk.
And you're right - with the, you can't just swop out the components, the whole unit would need to be replaced.
