Phantom Ultimate summary
#1
Devialet released new Phantom Ultimate. Let’s find out the differences?
- up to 35kHz tweeter with a larger opening and surface
- refined spherical ears with a larger amplitude
- DOS 3
- Bluetooth 5.3
- WiFi 6
- new processor
- listening modes
- touch controls
- price 3200€, new upgrade program available that gives you 15% discount if you had Phantoms before
- price with discount 2720€, or a 480€ off for a 108db model
- app was refreshed with a new look
- same inputs: optical, ethernet, wifi
- driver for mid-range speaker is gone
- PLC connectivity is gone

What did I miss?

That's only for the 108dB though.

98dB gets:
  • 25kHz (instead of 21kHz);
  • keeps wifi 5; and
  • bluetooth 5.2.

In addition, both get :
  • Google Cast and Tidal Connect
  • what seems to be proper sleep mode (2W), hopefully with quicker start up or event better WOL
  • DSP 32 bit / 96 kHz

I’m curious to know if the delay feature via Optical input will still be present in these new Phantom Ultimate lineup models. They are heavily promoting them as offering a “home cinema experience,” so I’m hoping for the best.

I think delay is there → it's essential for them to do sound processing "ahead of time" for SAM to work. Some part of delay could be attributed to connectivity, that has improved, so probably number could be lower.

Remote control is no longer included in the package. I noticed that the remote design has been slightly updated, with new colors that match the colors of the new ultimate Phantoms and Devialet branding on the side. I hope micro USB is replaced with USB C, but I haven’t been able to find any information about this.

I think it was a promotion, it was never part of a package
