Room correction Devialet Phantom Gold I
#1
Hello,
My name is Fernández.

I have a question. I own a stereo pair of Devialet Phantom Gold I My living room is under a 3-pointed roof. I would really like to do a room correction. (Dirac bv), because I feel like I can get more out of my speakers.

Many reflections of course in my pointed living room and I have the feeling that the bass comes more from the back than to my sitting position.

What could you advise me to get the best sound from my speakers, something that works with dirac... A not too expensive solution would be nice .
Although I know that I have to buy a license and microphone, but which device is best to do this with? Thanks in advance for the tips.

Speakers connected to Roon Nucleus

Yours sincerely, Fernandez

Your challenge there is with the Nucleus (and Roon) as they don't support Dirac at all.

It may sound a bit discouraging but you could buy a cheap Mac Mini and run Dirac on it as a plugin or standalone app. In this way you can keep using Roon (running on Mini) and you have the full resolution Dirac solution.

If the Nucleus is an important component you don't want to give up on you can go with Minidsp SDH Studio (https://www.minidsp.com/products/streami...shd-studio) but it won't give you full 24bit/192KHz Dirac capability, it will be limited to 24bit/96KHz (but maybe this is fine because if I recall correctly the Phantoms don't go beyond 24/96 anymore)

Hello @Fernández,

Do you particularly need to use Dirac, or would you consider other room correction software?  I have had good results from Focus Fidelity Filter Designer which is quite easy to use and builds room correction filters that can be run by your Roon server.  An alternative solution might be to contact Thierry at Home Audio Fidelity; he provides a bespoke filter design service which means you don't have to design any filters yourself.

Hope that helps,

Ian
