Trigger out is WHEN?

I need a trigger for my sub, which seems to have a faint undiagnosable hum.

I tend to leave my devialet (200 expert) constantly on. 

But I want the sub to be triggered only when playing music. 

When does the Expert 200 send the trigger? On power on, or on actual music playback? 

I would like the latter, but want confirmation that it works before I manufacture the non-standard trigger cable.

According to this, you're in luck.

In the final section it says that trig out is configurable for each input via the configurator.

Which does indeed suggest it will trigger on input change.
