That combination of Rega plus Pro-Ject should sound very nice!
Try increasing gain as @ragwo suggests and keep an eye on the Clipping LED. Also make sure the cartridge loading is 47KΩ. An MM cart with too low (MC) resistive loading will sound muffled. Does the Record Level knob change any of this?
