On the previous page I posted I wasn't impressed with the Regen. Yesterday I even felt it made SQ/musical enjoyment less. Today however I connected a BoTWS linear power supply to it and OMG, WOW, it's shining now!!

I'm a bit cross-posting over three different forums so see also links below for more details (if interested)

No, it was a LPSU I still had lying around, unused. (BoTWS 12V with integrated SBooster module, I previously used it to power my Netgear switch and before that my Anti Mode DC 2.0)

OK - I mention the Amber UpTone Regen here with Melco and Devialet:
http://devialetchat.com/showthread.php?t...9#pid20479

Slightly inconclusive. I think my preference is without Regen. Could this show the Melco USB output is really rather good? It would be interesting to try a different PSU on the Regen though...

Could somebody recommend a LPSU for the Regen that I can buy in the UK please?

No problem with the back lip and my cable, I have a little wiggle room yet.  Transparent - Performance is the model, nothing crazy.

Anybody that has tried a Regen with Auralic Aries and Devialet?

Thinking of getting a Regen to go between my Aries and my 400. I have a Cabledyne Silver USB cable that connects them today.

Does the Devialet need the +5V to be connected for the handshake, or does it only need the ground? If I understand it right a LPSU for the Regen is a good thing to get but if the Devialet does not need the +5V then you could power the Regen with lees than 7.5V and there is more options to chose from if it is ok with 5V.
Speakers:TAD CE-1. Amplifier: TAD M2500mk2. Digital: TAD DA1000-TX, Innuos Statement Next-gen, Innuos PhoenixNET.

right now the best thing to do is just power your regen with the smps it comes with and dont spend the money on a linear for it.

they are developing a new device which goes between the power supply and power plug that they claim will blow you away SQ wise and a linear is completely unneccessary!

The devialet requires 5v for handshake but after that it can be disconnected. the regen however has regulators inside so you can power it with anywhere from 5 to 12v and it will regulate it to exactly 5v.

i dont have an aries, but you will definitely hear an improvement on your usb input

I have all three. Obviously lots of praise for the Regen. Be mindful that if you get the Regen you will need to "prop" it to proper height to the USB input on your Devialet so it doesn't pull down on the USB port on the Devialet. That is true of whatever device you connect a REGEN into.

As to your initial question, I don't have a definitive answer for you ( sorry ), I think it really varies by system and listener and a variety of other factors. However from what I have read the majority of Regen users who post on Internet forums are happy users. Maybe you can find a fellow user close by who can lend you one, where about do you reside?
