Upgrade program kick-off
That could be a major winner for me too. I tend to listen at low volumes but I find the volume at which it gets livelier is just slightly beyond the comfort level for my small listening room...

So i am interested in knowing how the new 200Pro copes with that (new ADH is higher resolution now?)?

Cheers,

I also did not like the sound at low volumes when I got my 200 in February this year. Below -20'db or so the sound became boring, even in the 30watt settings I use to drive my horns. I started a thread a few month ago about this subject but I was almost the only one noticing this! Then I installed the latest fw and strangely, the low level performance increase quite a bit. My buddy who is driving his raidhos with a 200 also clearly heard this. Install the new fw if you haven't done it yet.
Highly modded avantgarde omega duos, slightly modded d200, d-sonics m3 800 s class d amp to drive the subs of my duos, all equipment on silent running audio platforms.
DCS Network bridge connected with AQ diamond to Router and with special Belden 1694a digital cable (cable is cryoed, mechanical damped and using very high quality solder to KLEI Harmony Bullet plug)
S/C is Shunyata biwire Delta, 2 Delta p/c on the bridge and bass amp, Synergestic dev p/c on the 200, all connected to Shunyata Denali power conditioner

Yeah I'd imagine some of the perceived differences with the pro are firmware related. For me though the latest firmware on the existing hardware just seemed a touch brighter and more aggressive in general. But others find quite the opposite.

You can of course also attenuate with quality DSP like Dirac or Roon or (any other) if you're happy with non-bitperfect to make the amps work harder. I'm sure some of my Dirac enjoyment came from the volume knob increase.

I can never really figure whether my sound quality suffers due to low volume or not. My listening room is small - only about 11 feet by 11 feet. I do notice my D200 sound quality is not so good at low (i.e normal to me) volumes but on the other hand I find the Raidhos seem to be quite demanding and so need the volume set relatively high. The unit used to get pretty hot too (subsequent firmware updates appear to have improved that though) so I'm guessing it still must be working pretty hard.
Hopefully we'll have more reports that the new Pros are better at lower volumes.

And my 250 Pro is back! Looks quite nice with the copper bottom contrasting the matt white finish. Unfortunately it still says D-premier on the back cover, would have been nice if they fixed this.
Some Daft Punk on repeat and in about a day i know whether i've been too impulsive  Big Grin
