Vivid Audio B1 or 1.5 with D220Pro
#41
I had a listen to the Kaya 45 and 90 a couple of weeks ago and their mid range and highs were absolutely stunning. The 45's were driven by a Chord DAC, Audio Research pre and Dan D'Agostino power amp. We used a Devialet 220 Pro on the 90's and at no point did we feel there was a reduction in SQ.
Lifetime Roon, Mac mini, int. SSD, ext. HDD, tv as monitor, key board and track pad on bean bag as remote,Devialet 200, Od'A #097, Blue jeans speaker cable,
                                                                                                                                                                            Dynaudio C1 MkII.
                                                                                                                                                                              Jim Smith's GBS.

Devialet is a match made in heaven with Vivid. I read that bi amping is again a step forward in SQ with Vivid and Devialet as mentioned by the designer of Vivid.

Where did you read that? I recall reading he preferred one D240 over the D800 on his G1's. It's that long ago, I won't be able to find it.

Found it! Not Lawrence's remarks but apparently he agreed. Also not 240's but 250's and not the G1 but G2. Got the story right but all the details wrong, LOL!

Interestingly, my mate, who owns the 220 Pro, had it on my speakers and, him being in the sweet spot, found it didn't sound as full as my Od'A.

If you have some time, do test out various toe-in setups.
Vivid actually recommends that the speaker toe-in crosses just in front of the listening position.
I have set up my B1 Decades with a similar level of toe-in and to my ears it sounds the best.

What was the difference for you?

I tried that but to my idea the sound stage was smaller. Now the K1 are facing straight forward and soundstage is great. But i will definetely do some testing. Dynamics are really good already had several times i jumped up during a dynamic piece .
