difficoult to say after a long time, but currently I think that 7.1.3 has a much bigger impact on SQ than upgrading from D-Premier to 240.
Going to 800 was maybe similar. But more expensive...

8.0 two nights away...

I agree that update with 30W extra was really important one...it helped me with my power hungry monitors, but 7.1.3 sound quality I can only compare to 240 when I was doing my choice more than one year ago. 240 then offered directness of sound and transparency that 170 and 110 hadn't. Now with 7.1.3 I can nearly ,,feel sound"...so this great directness of sound is in my system.

Interesting as I do think 7.1.3 lifted SQ but not as much as 170 to 200 however that 30 W extra was perhaps what I needed at the time hence I experienced that as bigger.
Going mono of course costed more but also gave more. Perhaps not the best SQ/money as these firmware updates (though paid for quite much) but at some level software magic will stop.

Strange thing happening further. Now, the optical input can't play 24/192 music (orange wording). So, this confirm it has nothing to with the new firmware. And, one thing is for sure, playing 24/192 music thru optical input is possible, maybe Devialet just deactivate this functionality.
Mystery continue. Never giving up, I was adjusting my cheapo (previously working) toslink cable by twisting and firming the contact and saw the display flickering from white to orange. And, sound spurts out momentarily. So, I know toslink is possible to play 24/192. I changed to a better toslink cable that was previously no sound, and mysteriously music appears. (No twisting, just plug in and play)

So, I think you guys can try out my trial and error method.
The Devialet website is offline now for "maintenance". I hope we can download firmware 8 soon!
Version 7.1.3 did not improve SQ on my Cassiano D. Bass was getting imprecise and too fat with SAM on.
So besides the new functionalities I am very curious what version 8 will do to the SQ.

Great timing - I wanted to use the configurator!

Don't worry, it says they'll be back very soon  Angel
Regarding the toslink cables. Strange experiences do happen! I have owned an Audioquest Vodka which did not support 24/192. The cheaper AudioQuest Cinnamon did support 24/192. Apparently a lot variables come into play with Toslink.
