All systems are different. And all ears are too.
Just go for the one that sounds best to you.

Devialet Firmware [HiFiAdvice]
Very interesting and thanks for sharing. Is your friend a member of this forum?
I do feel that 9.0.1 redresses the balance somewhat.

Hi Guillaume
reading your description of the Od'A, am I right that you find the sound more like the character of 7.1.3? I.e. a little warmer with good (better) dimensionality?
Is it possible today to make a configuration file for 7.1.3 with todays configurator if you dont use any of the things that came with 8.0 firmware like RAM and dont use SAM? I did not keep a copy of the files when I had 7.1.3 and since that I changed to D400 so not much point in it even if I hade the files.
I expect so: I'm running 7.1.3 and made new configuration files for my 400 about three weeks ago; they seem to be working fine. I am not using SAM.

Sounds good is it only SAM that you dont use ore is there anything else that you did not turn on in the config?
I don't remember having to switch anything off to get it to work - it just did the right thing. I've never tried a later version of firmware so in some respects I don't know what I'm missing
