Exactly. I mean optimise them for SAM or launch a new cutting edge DSP to go with them or something.

I read their website gumpf. Three 'play once only' records? What madness. The spin (no pun intended) has truly outdone itself this time. And as usual there's a store button which doesn't have anything ready to buy, just a mailing list subscription.

Maybe it's Devialets entrance into some sort of as yet to be released mastering tech, but it just comes across as a bit odd and a bit of a waste of resources. Time to stop following Devialet announcements I think.

"Each album is limited to 900 copies"
"The ultimate analog medium can only be listened to once"

It's all for the love of music... right.

Could this be Devialet's way to introduce the brand to the ultra rich? Expensive music first, Devialet Expert Pro Ultimate Gold next. Who knows. We might be the lucky ones to get into the brand while it's still affordable.

If the lacquer thing can be listened to only once, what is it that actually happens to it? Does the coating somehow evaporate, get stuck to the stylus or something else?

LOL, I just thought of something. Just imagine you've just spent a few grand on your 'once only' recording and you find there's a little tick in there somewhere. You can't take it back to the shop to let them hear where the tick was. Or you're listening and the doorbell rings.  Tongue

LOL...that's a good one.

You should ask Devialet support for warranty on this aspect.
