I have already raised this issue with Devialet over 2.5 years ago about this exact problem.
At around 50-60 percent volume (depending on song), you can get a popping sound followed by the phantom restarting and behaving weird.
You could technically trigger this effect with any song that has a sudden dynamic hit in the infra regions (around 12-18hz) which causes the speaker to kind of protect itself to avoid it from over-excursion issues.
I have 3 Phantoms, one of the OG white Phantom’s (103db I believe it is called) and 2 108db Phantoms.
I have NEVER been able to replicate this issue with the OG phantom but have had this issue with 6 108db Phantoms that I tried with my local dealer and personal pairs.
My had a long email thread with the Devialet support but they kept persisting to switch out my Phantoms even though I told them multiple times that this issue exists in all the 108’s that I tried so in the end, I didn’t switch them out.
They claimed that they tried replicating my issue on their end to but wasn’t able to have any of the issues replicated.
These days, I run my Phantom off optical and I use a DSP box to high pass them below 23hz to avoid this issue altogether.
Hopefully they will fix this with the newest update.
