Using a dedicated streamer like the Bluesound Node Icon is a very good way to extend the streaming capabilities of your Expert Pro. With the Node Icon, you get all modern streaming options—Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, etc.—and it can even trigger/activate the Devialet.
The Node Icon also supports Dirac Live room correction, which can help resolve acoustic issues in rooms with moderate treatment. While Dirac slightly reduces resolution due to digital filtering, the improvements in bass control, imaging, and overall room balance far outweigh this minor loss.
For best sound quality, it’s recommended to send the signal directly from the streamer to the Devialet rather than controlling volume via the streamer. The Devialet’s DAC and amplification are excellent, so keeping the volume path entirely in the Devialet preserves its high fidelity.
