Expert app problem - can anyone assist?

Hi - can anyone who is network and Devialet (Expert) savvy help with this problem, please.

Basically the remote app hardly ever works for me, with my Devialet 400.  Occasionally it will work fine for a few days/weeks, other times not at all - usually when I start the app I just get a spinning circle at the centre - while the app tries to find a Devialet expert, but fails to.

My D400 is hardwired to my router (via a network switch) with cat5 in the walls.  I have a Virgin Media super-hub, with a strong wireless signal to all rooms - iPads, iPhones etc all get a strong wireless signal.

Am I correct in thinking that if my D400 is hardwired to the router, and the ipad/iphone are on the same network, albeit wirelessley, they should find each other somehow?

On my router the Devialet is not showing up as a connected device, either.  Shouldn't the SSID ('My Devialet') appear under connected devices?

Any advice appreciated!  Thanks
