I need to figure out a way to control the volume of my Phantom Gold's without using the lousy app or the knob that have failed since day one. Even after a replacement.
My plan is to put the speakers in direct mode and feeding it with a digital optical (TOSLINK) signal for each speaker (stereo). The problem is that my Onkyo NX717 only have analog pre amp out (L/R). I have to get a Analog to Digital converter, but I'm not certain at all that I can control the volume with my Onkyo after running the signal through the converter.
The other posts I've seen on this topic suggests converters, but there's also talk about the users having to use the app or knob for volume after this. There is not definite conclusion of what solution can solve this. Can anyone help me out suggesting what could be done to achieve this?
