Thanks or answering, ragwo! Could you elaborate a bit?

I need to use the Pre Out right? That means I have to use the AD converter as you suggest. One AD converter to a splitter is better than two AD converters to get the same two optical out? And what would happen to the volum control. Will it pass through the converter and the splitter no matter what, or do I need some special equipment? I would like to avoid low quality devices which introduce white nose as well. I heard some had a problem with that.

Any suggestions for specific equipment? Preferably cheaper things, as long as it don't ruin the sound.

I would have chosen a good ADC, such as the Mytek ADC 96 or 192, and an optical splitter. A good one is mentioned in another thread, I can't remember which one. In optical direct mode you can choose if the speaker should be left to right or mix. The preamp will control the volume and you can avoid using Spark.
