Expert Pro sound quality
#1
I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread about the sound quality of the new Expert Pro. I know I'm a bit early but it won't be long before the first ones will be in the shops. What I'm curious about is whether or not there will be an increase in SQ for the Od'A too or the others will just be upgraded to the same level....which will then make me curious about why there's an upgrade for the Od'A.

My understanding is that the new 1000 Plus sounds better than the O d'A hence the upgrade programme for O d'A owners too...

As far as I'm concerned this makes the upgrade even more compelling for 120/200/250/400/800 Expert owners.

May be a bit early to state that a D1000 plus or other name given will sound better than Od'A as we know it now, unless you have been able to listen to it?

Based on those who have heard the development unit, it is.

Based on the dealer in Hong Kong's comment below, I suspect Od'a has all the new hardware hidden under the hood.
**********

"Original d'Atelier is Devialet anniversary model, which is the milestone of the company.
Please do not need to worry about it, you will be treating as the MOST important 100 users in the worldwide market. I wrote before about the incorrect code name of Original d'Atelier, you soon will notice the reason.

For other model(s), no one should be worry too as the plan is logic and fair. For current trade in discount, it is still the best time to buy.

Some of you know that's all I can share for the moment."

OdA upgrade should and will be free of charge if my information is correct. I also heard prices of the new models will go up quite a bit (eg. new 200 will go up from 7000 to 8500 euro)

If you are correct, the cost of upgrade for a le200 "should" be around 2500 euro - my estimate is based new price at 8500 euro less 15% of the discount promotion from the old model (I.e.7000 x 85% = 5950). My rationale is that devialet didn't tell people they are getting a discount for buying an obsolete model. Thus, only make sense if they would pay the difference to get themselves back to the current. My own assumption, as we all know devialet does not necessarily think logically. Otherwise, AIR and the remote would been fixed at least 18months ago.

Upgrade will be 3490 from 'old' 200 to 'new' 200 i've heard. Same price as the upgrade from d-premier to 240. My guess is the upgrade for the 250 will be a bit more this time taking into account the rumoured price for the new 1000 model (27990)

Interesting, that suggests that the new 1000 plus will be priced closer to the O d'A price, so perhaps £21k or thereabouts here in UK.

What we need are some details from Devialet....  Smile

Hang on!! What's this got to do with sound quality?  Rolleyes

Higher price --> more expectation bias --> better sound? Huh
