Edit: Looking at the picture with the lid lifted and the turntable in view is strangely reminiscent of my parents late 1960's Dynatron music centre (music sideboard). Although the turntable inside is somewhat more impressive!

It's the bespoke side of Blok audio stands, run by a very good guy called Simon Gavin.
He does the design and then subcontracts out the fabrication to local craftsmen (who I suspect work mostly for him), which is a lot more cost-effective than running a factory. He is very good on the details. The gas level in the arms is adjustable so the top and front can be raised and lowered when a record is playing without any problems.
He also made me a matching unit for record and other storage. There is a picture on his site when I had valve amps, had to operate it open. Besides not liking to have audio in the open, I don't worry about cartridges being damaged.
