Hi cereal killer,
it looks like you have a pretty simple system, that´s exactly my go: simple system and the laptop away.
Could you tell me how it works and what kind of NAS do you have? I´m usiing Tidal/roon/air via a mac laptop and a iPad as remote but i´d like to drop the laptop and get some storage capacity too. The Womaz solution (Innuos) could be an alternative but i´m not so sure about it yet.
Thanks.
Hi - yes no worries. It’s a really neat simple setup. NAS spec is:
QNAP TS-251+ with 1x8GB Samsung RAM module
2x 1TB sandisk Ultra II SSDs
RoonServer is available from the QNAP ap store.
The NAS and 220 Pro are both hardwired via CAT 7 Ethernet cables to a TP-Link VR900 router.
Everything was virtually plug and play once assembled.
In the QNAP OS I have fixed the IP address for the server then mapped the drive on my laptop.
When I want to add new music I copy it to the NAS via WiFi as it’s all gigabit or A/C rated.
Roon then automatically catalogues and displays new music, laptop can be put away again.
