I asked Rouge Amoeba directly about presenting a 'radio station' inteface from a USB input. The answer was:

"No, Airfoil does not create Internet Radio stations. As of Airfoil version 5.5, Airfoil currently supports three different audio technologies:

* AirPlay devices on your local network
* Bluetooth devices paired to your computer
* Chromecast devices on your local network

You can use one type of device, all three, or any combination that suits your setup"

The Pi (or Linux) solution described by qdtjni on the Roon forum is presently the only low price way to do it. The Trans Vinyl unit may work as the only turnkey solution, but we still do not know if it is compatible with Roon.
