Hi, i took the recent upgrade and would like to tell you of my experience:
I own an Expert 200 which is over 2 years old. In August I received an email from the Devialet Upgrade program manager with details of upgrading my 200 to a 220 Pro with Infinity Core at a cost of 3490 Euro.
It is a substantial amount for an upgrade, but I went for it, because i intend to keep my Devialet for longer and want to get the new firmware and streaming upgrades when they become available.
OK, so i paid online and selected that i want to receive the shipping package. Next day I received an email from UPS they will send the package, which arrived i week later (i m in Cyprus). I packed the unit with the remote and called UPS to pick up the package. A few days later i received an email saying my amp has arrived and the upgrade will take 20 days. Well, only 11 days later it arrived at my home.
Unpacking: New box with 220 PRO inside, with plastic cover, new high end power cable, manual, gloves and SD card. In all it looked like i received a new 220 PRO, but it could be that they polished my old case to make it look like new.
Startup: the first difference is of course 220 PRO on the display and when going through the input selector, there are more choices, for AIR, Airplay, Spotify, Upnp, USB, etc.
Listening: after warmup, the first impression is the impressive sound stage! Sure the clarity and transparency was there before, but this sounded better! I called in a friend who owns an Audio Research amp with Wilson Watt Puppy 8.1 and he know my system well. His comments were: before (the 200) it sounded a bit clinical, uninvolved, but the upgraded amp sounds better, more life like. And i agree.
Finally I can say, I am glad the upgrade worked well and Devialet did a good job.
