Bartype - I have the Oracle Delphi MK2 with the SME 9" 345 arm (Ortofon Cadenza Black Cart). I also have a VPI Aries Limited Edition with 3D 12" arm (Dynavector DRT XV 1S). The VPI Aries with the 12" arm is a dream machine, but your Oracle Delphi setup correctly is no slouch. I believe the Oracle can compete with some of the best if set up right. Can you share what kind of change your looking for? I am familiar with Shelter (albeit an older 901 many years ago). The Ortofon Cadenza Black is an excellent match for the SME arm.
If you have the opportunity to investigate 12" arms on a quality turntable, I don't think you'd be disappointed (with the right cartridge). I am certainly not, but I must admit most of my day to day vinyl playing is on the Oracle.
