The pro firmware won't work with the D-P. 10.1 is the highest.
The knob on my D-Premier remote could be lifted off (practical for cleaning) but it was never as loose as yours. After one of the upgrade trips to Paris the knob was glued to the shaft so I could no longer remove it. There should be a thin felt gasket under the knob for it to 'ride' on. If this felt is missing I can imagine you'll notice rubbing.
