Audirvana subtle clicks with AIR
#1
Hi,

I've been searching the internet/forum but couldn't find a solution. I stream my music from a Macbook Pro (late 2013) with Audirvana 3.5 (original settings) to my Devialet D250 using WiFI (Devialet AIR). However, sometimes I hear a very subtle click. Sometimes I hear this click 3 times in a song. First time I was thinking it was a fault in the recording but when I replay i can't hear it at the same time. This click doesn't appear when using a usb connection. Anybody an idea what could be the problem?

Thanks!

Do you play DSD files and let Audirvana make the conversion by using Izotope? USB connection supports DSD64 file natively for Devialet. However, you need to convert them for Air protocol. Roon is very successful for this on MacOs . But when I use Audirvana for DSDs using Devialet Air protocol, I sometimes hear similar clicks/pops.
Stereo Setup: Synology DS214Play NAS/Internet sources>> Supra CAT8 >> Ubiquiti Edge10X Switch>> Fiberoptical Cable >> SOTM SNH-10G Switch(S-Booster LPS) >> Supra CAT8 >> Euphony v4(Stylus with Qobuz, Tidal) running on RAM >> SOTM SNH-10G >> Supra CAT8 >> Mercury Streamer (GentooPlayer, MPD+UpMpdCli  running on RAM) + Fiio PL50 LPS >>  Mogami Gold AES XLR >> Devialet 220 Pro >> Echole Omnia Speaker/Jumper Cables >> B&W 804D3 Speakers on IsoAcoustics GAIA-II

Headphone Setup: Synology DS214Play NAS(CAT8) >> Ubiquiti Edge10X Switch>> Fiberoptical Cable >> SOTM SNH-10G Switch(S-Booster LPS) >> Supra CAT8 >> Euphony v4( Stylus with Qobuz, Tidal) running on RAM >> SOTM SNH-10G >> Supra CAT8 >>  Mercury Streamer(GentooPlayer , Mpd/UpMpdCli ) + Fiio PL50 LPS >>  RCA Coax >> Chord Hugo >> Fostex TH900 MK2

I do not use DSD files, just Qobuz without sampling. I'll try if I have the same issues with Roon.

Make sure your MacBook has Time Machine, Spotlight indexing (drag/drop any external hard drives to the privacy tab), and Automatic software updates disabled during playback. You can also try enabling the "SysOptimizer" in Audirvana's preferences, it's some sort of "machine optimized" playback mode.

Settings in Audirvana are marked as "extreme". It's only with AIR WiFi, USB works but I prefer the sound of AIR WiFi. Didn't tried Ethernet yet.

Using Air Ethernet protocol over a switch(audiophole switch preferably) and an ethernet cable(like supra Cat8) will probably help you achieve better results.

Thanks, i'm listening at this moment also with an ethernet cable. I guess the subtle click/crackle with AIR WifI occurs because of an issue with the powerline i'm using to have acces to the internet. I'm building a new house so in some months i'll know if that was the problem or not.
