For someone who's spent the money on Devialet gear that you have, it would have been nice of them to let you send the 1000Pro instead.

Let’s wait for the OdA guinea pigs, I really don’t want to be on the bleeding edge and I will wait for the software to mature first.

Maybe check in around 2019/2020, assuming Devialet are still going and supporting the platforms..... Rolleyes

Did I read that right? Customers are being sold a state of the art circa £23,000 amplifier, which contains key components that don’t yet work?

Struggling with the software again it seems. The horror.
Will they ever learn?
I feel sorry for everyone waiting...

It is indeed disappointing that Devialet are now supplying Pro amplifiers with the new OS Board but without the software to actually use the thing.  That said, it is not the end of the world, and when you think about it not that much different to all those who bought new Pro's or upgraded to Pro's with nothing more than a tentative promise of the OS board next year.  This is of course exactly my position, I have owned my 1000Pro for over a year now.  Being completely honest, the lack of the OS board has not bothered me much as I have used my Pro mainly via AES/EBU, with a bit of vinyl here and there, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the amp.  Time will tell, but I am not sure how much I will actually use the OS board one I finally get one.  The answer to that one depends almost entirely on both stability and sound quality, which remain as unknowns currently.  The thing I am more bothered about is the thought of being without the Pro for a couple of weeks or so when it is upgraded, a fate that Elztalbiker has neatly avoided.

As for recent posters claiming their joy at having bought highly discounted Expert models, I would say that you have indeed bought most excellent amplifiers for the money, well done.  But posting this as a kind of taunt at someone who has bought a new amp, which due to Devialet's failings does not have the full suite of software yet, is slightly poor show I think.

As for Devialet's failings, I actually think it is not unreasonable to offer a product with the OS Board installed but with the software pending.  At least you have the final product pending software, not something that needs to go back for upgrade  OK, it would obviously be much better if all this was correctly planned and coordinated, but as ever I see Devialet's prime failing is communicating with their customers.  If they communicated clear details of exactly what was happening and when, and perhaps offered a white paper or similar with technical details, then I think this situation would be fine, albeit one riddled with delays.  But yet again, Devialet manage to make a bad situation much worse for the sake of a bit of honest and open communication.  Also, from what I can gather, Devialet are not communicating some key information with their dealers.  Very poor!  Not that it matters that much, my little Pro is still sounding mighty fine today!

Edit: Elztalbiker - I have just had a moment of idle curiosity, what firmware version is installed in your 1000Pro?  Congratulations on getting the Pro by the way, I hope you enjoy it!
