You know a lot has been said in recent years, also from top management including CEO.

You’ve probably answered your own question, ie we shouldn’t.

BTW, they accept the issue of having overpromised and underdelivered and they are committed to the need to change that.

Hi guys

Sorry it's taking me so long to come online and spill the beans but I can assure you that after sitting in well over 30 rooms at the MOC and engaging in a multitude of meetings, not to mention all the networking and socialising with fellow members late into the night.... I am bloody exhausted!

Overall it was a great success and despite some of the more painful aspects (for e.g. getting up at 3.45am on Thursday am to catch the first flight to Munich out of Gatwick) it was great fun!

As usual I ran out of time and there were many things I did not get too see/hear. I think next year I will just book myself in for the full 4 day slog, perhaps without such an early start on day one and a slightly easier schedule throughout the event.

I know most of you have little interest in all the other gear at Munich so I will focus on the Devialet aspects. I will also attempt to tell a story through pictures which is a hell of a lot easier than writing a "Confused" style 10 page essay. No criticism of Confused's contributions to the site, far from it, just that I don't have the inclination or ability to emulate such a detailed and thoughtful approach.

So to summarise (see I'm doing it already) the Devialet gathering on Friday am was a breath of fresh air in terms of the candidness and openness shown by the Devialet team. We met quite a few of them there and there was a nice vibe. Without repeating what Ian has already said there is clearly a change in approach taking place. They wish to be more open with us and accept many of the failings of the past relating to overpromising and underdelivering (mea culpa). It seems as though there is a constructive dialog between them and us taking place. The change in senior management has clearly been the impetus for such change. Part of the change is also a more realistic approach in terms of what can be achieved, so we were not promised the earth and some things will take time to fix. The enthusiasm and energy of the new team is palpable with many working overtime to help deliver their goals.

Finally before I post pictures I'd like to say it was a real shame not more of you came. More people = more questions and different perspectives. And a lot more fun on the networking (drinking) front.

The extended Expert team...we met Yaohan Yang, he had a cracking sense of humour!  Big Grin

The conversation soon moved to the situation with Core Infinity. Joachim admitted the "RC3" name was a mistake:

Literally whilst the presentation was going on we had confirmation that the "Transport: Device in use" bug had been fixed and the bug fix had just been validated, therefore this will come in the next update:

This is what you have all been waiting for!  Cool It is coming folks!

Devialet have been working closely with Lawrence Dickie at Vivid to develop a digital crossover for the latest G1 Spirit. 3K watts of RMS power! More speakers may come in the future. The ultimate SAM project? The designer of the speaker worked very closely with Devialet and this included listening tests!

On a serious note, it might be wise to give this new team a bit of space for the rest of the year until they have time to deliver CI phases I and II. And address the communication and customer service issues.

Like you I have been a severe critic but I hope that the main source of Devialet's shortcomings has been taken out of the equation and it is now for the dedicated team to get things on track. We know they read this forum and perhaps their enthusiam should be encouraged for a good period at this stage?

Thanks to Guillaume for all the pics.

Fantastic news about RAAT.

Seeing the background of the team didn’t fill me with huge hope I have to say. I guess a lot of people moved to Phantom, are involved with other projects, or have left.

It’s only a small detail on the slides, but I was incredibly disheartened about the “no planned bug fix for legacy expert remote app” at the bottom of one of the pages. They’ve neglected it for years, and IMO it’s one of their greatest assets and should be kept bang up to date. It fits the aesthetic of the Experts perfectly, and we don’t all want Spark - why cat the experts have their own cool remote?. The writings been on the wall for some time (they still havent even updated the screen display to match the new Expert screen design/colours), but it’s crushing news to see it in writing.

I suppose RAAT will hand volume control over to Roon for people that use it, but I still like the silver wheel and ‘directness’ of the Expert app. And if they’re not updating it, where is the replacement?

As for giving them space, I really think this has to be earned at this stage in the game..... so I’ll just try and post as little as I have been lately anyway. And wait in the wings. Smile

Drinking and meeting at Munich would have been really good all of that said, but that’s a way off for me. Hopefully those who went made up for the rest of us.

Sure everyone get‘s their chance. It‘s just a shame they didn’t send out an invite via email to customers or DC members to attend the demo / meeting in Munich. Then a lot more people would have been able to join - me included.
Regarding more attendants, different questions raised.
I am sure you discussed topics like these which been named many times here on DC:
- when will the very long outdated Remote App be redone / updated?
(Over the years a Universal App is Standard that works seamless with different devices, resolutions)
Also feature wise every cheap AV receiver, sound dock has an app to adjust settings in real-time.
When will this be available?
- There is already a web server running - so to not just send feedback but also download and install firmware updates should be close ahead. Finally skipping the need for time-consuming SD process.
- online configurator is quite a mess
Heard that it should still be another few months until known bugs get fixed / it gets up to date again.
- Though known for years remembering individuell settings of source (phase, ICM, SAM %, etc) still not working
- will there be SAM V3?
- room correction / Dirac Integration ?
