Yes, you were right but what you were right about was that a software update was coming. You were wrong several times about when the firmware would be released and while you were only wrong by one day in your most recent announcement, your May suggestion was wrong by nearly 5 months and you've got it wrong at least once more since then.
Is it your fault that you were wrong? No, someone at Devialet told you something you reported and then Devialet failed to deliver. My criticism of posts such as yours relating advice personally received from Devialet has always been because of 3 facts:
1- Devialet are simply hopeless when it comes to time frames. They tell you when something will happen and it nearly always takes longer, often much longer. That's as true of their public announcements as it is of their private communications based on the accuracy of the private communications reported here.
2- For every report we get from someone that says they were told by someone in Devialet that something is in development, there's another report from someone else saying that someone in Devialet told them that nothing was in development. Basically it's impossible to sort the true advice, or at least partially true advice if we ignore predicted delivery dates, from the reports which are untrue. What the untrue reports tell us is that there are people in Devialet who are simply prepared to hand out inaccurate advice and possibly even just to lie to customers and that creates confusion for everyone.
3- I think Devialet sometimes use owners who are asking questions as a means of getting info out to people because they know that what they tell one person, that person will tell others. There's an advantage to that for them. If they don't deliver on what they have said to that individual, then that individual gets the criticism and not Devialet because Devialet hasn't said anything officially. I don't like that situation. I think that if Devialet is prepared to tell someone like you that something is in the works, they should make a public announcement to all owners and put their own reputation on the line instead of using owners to get information out to other owners and letting those people take the criticism when Devialet doesn't deliver.
So yes, you basically got it right this time but you were also wrong several times about when the update would be released but the biggest issue I have with all of this is that as a means of Devialet getting info to their customers, their use of owners such as you is simply wrong and dishonest. They tell you something, you tell others, and when Devialet doesn't deliver on what they told you then you are the one who gets all of the criticism instead of them. The only way I can think of to stop that sort of situation occurring, and it should stop, is for people such as you to stop repeating what Devialet told you and maybe that would force Devialet to do what they should be doing which is to communicate openly and honestly with all owners about things like firmware updates and fixes for bugs. And if Devialet were prepared to do that and make public announcements then we wouldn't have staff within Devialet telling some owners things that are simply untrue.
