Problems with Core Infinity
I thinks it’s more a case of “if” rather than “when”. Devialet have yet to show they have sufficient competence to sort out their own software in a reasonable timeframe - goodness only knows what sort of a mess they would make of implementing someone else’s. Personally, I will be amazed if we have a stable CI software with robust AIR before the end of 2018. In the meantime, I have a feeling that this “free” upgrade will require investment in something like a DNB if I want to get the improved SQ without all the nonsense and issues. It is beyond a joke, and I am amazed at how many folk here seem willing to politely put up with this level of so-called service after having laid out thousands.

It's for that very reason that I'm keeping my Od'A in my living room and the boxes in the garage for now. Roon over AIR has been the most reliable and fun way to play music. Why would I take the risk of loosing that? Does the upgrade to 1000 Pro and CI board sound so much better that one is happy to put up with all the trouble?

@Pim, @Zappydev: I'm with you. Fortunately I've been very happy with the Pro upgrade and feel the cost was justified on the merit of what I could see, touch and hear at the time of purchase; the CI would just be a bonus if it turns out to work properly at some point. Given the new Roon/AIR integration which seems to be 100% reliable, and provides the long-missing full remote control software for the Dev, I have absolutely no desire to tinker with something that "just works" (and sounds plenty good enough to me).

Hello Ian - yes, your position makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, we Od’A owners do not yet have the clear benefits of the Pro upgrade, and clearly we are missing a little SQ there. Personally, I can live without UPNP and all the other stuff, but AIR is an absolute must, and I find it inconceivable how Devialet can finalise the CI hardware without bothering to check that their 18-month-old streaming protocol actually works properly. I say 18 months, but of course, that does not include the 2+ years it took them to fix it the first time around  Huh Huh Huh

Hello,

I can't agree more. I also find Air (Wifi) is still the best way to get the highest SQ on a Devialet. I'm working with some friends to test Roon vs Audirvana (AIR/Wifi) and also Air vs UPNP.
But it's absolutely a pity that Devialet did not succeed to give us a stable version after more than a year and a half. Actually I really wonder if they'll be able to make it... That's the point and it is definitely not acceptable.
As one of my friend was telling me, they are, in another way, really good at disappointing the most valiant and benevolent of us...

So I won't give up yet. Not in testing all functionalities nor asking Devialet staff some involvement and results. But at a moment, I'll be obliged to make a choice : going on with Devialet (what I would like to do) or sell it and buy something else, that simply works...

Regards,
I.

I am extremely happy with how my system sounds and performs today, and have no inclination to sell up and move on, not least because of the inevitable financial hit that would necessitate. So far, so good.

However, my overall enjoyment of the system - which is, after all, supposed to be a pleasurable hobby - is definitely becoming clouded by the conviction that Devialet are making fools of their customers, even as they wallow in their millions.

I’ve noticed that, when using Roon, the status of the bass and treble settings are no longer listed in the signal path graphic. I found this useful as, although one of my amps is wall mounted, it’s difficult to see from my listening position.  Whether this is because of the CI upgrade or upgrade to Roon 1.4, I don’t know.
Can anybody who hasn’t had the CI board fitted and uses Roon 1.4 throw any light onto the subject, please?

Hi Axel - I just looked. There was no display of the settings. Then, I used the Devialet remote to change the balance, and suddenly the display appeared. I initially wondered if the display was hidden if everything was at default or 0%, but in fact my bass boost was correctly showing +1.5 dB, so maybe it’s a little bug in Roon. The balance still displays a weird number too (251% for 5% left). I flagged that to Roon as soon as Roon AIR came along, so maybe it is supposed to be that way.
