Everything is now back to normal, what a relief!!!
Guillaume Good that it worked out Guillaume!.
Just to confirm, your entire library is on your sT correct?. NAS is not in play at all. In other words, Roon does not fetch tracks from NAS and streams to Dev. Instead its entirely from sT - CORRECT?.
Because thats exactly what I m intending to do once AIR3 for windows works. Then, entire music albums can be on Intel NUC with good SSD. NAS will be for back up only and not for active streaming. I want to avoid spinning, slow fetching and other potential benefits.
CORRECT!

Excellent! Now thats motivating .
This is the few times I have asked about this in this forum and at Roon Forum, but wanted to make sure that this is the right way out. Awaiting AIR3 works good on Windows too. If not then USB also works fine.

I had an NUC running the Roon Server and with iMac running Rood Bridge and AIR3b. Thinking that a dedicated headless Mac Mini running the Bridge and AIR will give a better sound quality, I bought over a friend's 2011 MM. The MM is running bare bone while the iMac is my day-to-day computer, surprisingly the iMac gave a much better sound quality. Background is darker and had better clarity overall. I wonder what gives?

Good question. Settings checked? The same in both machines?

That is strange, you would expect the bare bones Mac Mini to have the better sound quality.

This baffled me too. Settings are all the same. Both iMac and Mac Mini are connected to the same ethernet hub but with different cheap LAN cables though.

I do not think it depends on the LAN cables, but - of course - it would be the first (and easiest) step to change them and see what happens.

I guess the respective power supplies in the iMac and the MM could also make a difference ?

Hello,
Sorry if this is obvious or the information is somewhere else but i can't find it.
I am on Roon trial and am pretty sure i want to subscribe. However, i will be getting a purposed Windows laptop for music but not before my trial ends.
Can i move it to my new laptop ? Or would i have to subscribe again ?
Thanks

It boils down to the iMac and Mac Mini hardware but may not be limited to power supplies. But you may be right the power supplies are most likely the culprits.
Just to share my initial experience with Roon is really bad in terms of sound quality, the biggest pain point is the high noise floor that rendered Roon not listenable. I almost cancelled it but fortunately Kevin extended my trial and I was able to custom ordered linear power supplies for my NUC and ethernet switch. Now Roon is listenable and I would purchase the annual subscription next week when the trial dues. FYI the 2 power supplies cost more than my NUC and switch combined
