I've used it (and do use it), but my overall summary is that Devialet's implementation for the Expert Pro CI series is near-anti-customer in implementation. Having to create the eq.txt file and stick it onto an SD card for each iteration is interruptive in any process for making improvements. Only having two options (main/alternate) for EQ makes it harder - I'd like for example a 'quiet volume' vs 'regular volume', as well as 'off' EQ setup.
These devices have a linux-based operating system so should have the power to offer so much more ease around configuration, but I completely understand the economics around serving a small customer base compared to putting resources into their bigger one. That said, wouldn't it be nice if they had the configuration app on-device, so you could point your browser to the Expert Pro, keep a tracked/version controlled collection of configurations? While 'live mode' changing of EQ would be nice, even if it was requiring a restart after each edit, it would at least avoid the physical processes of getting out of the chair and managing the SD cards. I've slightly solved this by buying a couple of SD Card extension ribbon cables so that access is easier.
And if I haven't said it enough times, it'd be wonderful if Devialet isn't going to implement improvements like this, that they provide an API so that others can safely interact with the device. What I would give for an easy way to have some kind of remote that let me pick which of the inputs I actually use and select them, or alter eq on the fly...
1. Not overly hard to implement, but there is a lot of circular dependency knowledge that is sometimes conflicting. E.g. reports of units that are in a main/companion mode not reading the configuration correctly
2. REW can be learned in a few hours to get you by, but I found that even after doing that and better understanding the software itself, it didn't make me as confident around the results and how to ensure they matched what was being attempted. I'm not an audio engineer though. The video I used at the time was Julian Krause's introduction at
https://youtu.be/Ev1bSSL8tRA - there may be better. You might also want to look at the iOS App 'Housecurve'
https://apps.apple.com/au/app/housecurve/id1470695018 if you have a compatible device. There's some good instructions on their website, and they seem to be well regarded from what I've seen.
3. Yes. For my situation it made a noticeable improvement for my room
4. Maybe? It's been a while since I've touched it, but I think I was able to navigate the issues around the different EQs being picked up for each speaker.
In case it helps you or others, here's several references that I used when looking into all of this in earnest - if you feel like I've missed anything when you do your own investigations I'd be happy to hear more. If the links don't work. Apologies, I didn't check them for current validity

- Suggests choosing Rephase as the REW equaliser
- To quickly reduce the number of filters active in the Rephase equaliser to 9 is to click on DCX2496, then click back on Rephase, you should then see the filters above 9 are marked as manual and REW will not auto calculate them

- high Q values have strong impact on phase variations and should be avoided for best sonic performance
- you can add the word "REMOTE" into the eq.txt file to associate the button on the right of your Remote to toggle the EQ function On/Off.
- If companion reports 'Main' EQ when switched to 'Alternate' this is a UI bug, but the companion is switching

- People reporting that if they are using SAM and set up a filter profile with 9 filters per channel which Sweet Room is supposedly capable of handling, only the first 5 filters work, the last 4 are ignored, but if SAM is off then all 9 filters work. Devialet have confirmed this behaviour.

- Keep SAM in its usual setting for both measurement and configuration of Sweet Room, providing that you use it for room related resonances in the bass region. As always with changes a bit of experimentation will probably be necessary.
