Thanks Martyn. Well it looks like Devialet are covering their distribution costs for the UK, or simply adding in some extra profit, because the OP figures were definitely published on at least one main dealer's website when Absolute Sounds were no longer the distributor in the UK.

It may be that Devialet are allowing dealers a higher margin than was previously available when they used a distributor. If this is the case then it may be possible to negotiate a discount off the RRP (which, I understand, was not possible previously).

At current exchange rates its now only about 5% cheaper to buy in mainland europe (ignoring discounts) than it is in the UK which is a lot better than the 15-20% gap which had developed over the last 12-18 months.

Prices in Hong Kong has been adjusted last month too - dealer finally realized Euro has depreciated much for the last 18 months. Prices reasonably close to european prices.

HK, I think it's us who are getting skinned rather than EU or US buyers getting a bargain. I bought my 120 in Santiago, Chile, from their official distributor at basically the same price as in Paris (let's not even start on the unavailability of any Devialet product in Argentina or the potential price at which it would be sold here...). It's our own countries laws and tariffs the one to blame.

... so I order a pair from Harrods less than 6 months later (quoting them £199) and they say they have gone up to £299. Each.
